July 19-21, 2017
Six vets and two counselors attended this years fishing trip.
They arrived the afternoon of July 19 and stayed at Moosetracts Cottages on Prong Pond and the Chalet Moosehead on Moosehead Lake. Dinner ,the first evening, was provided by Leisure Life Resort.
Everyone meet at the Maine Guide Fly shop the morning of July 20 where the guides from the Maine Guide Fly Shop and Kennebec River Angler were ready with four drift boats to take the vets for a day of fly fishing on the East Outlet of the Kennebec.
The vets had a great time drifting the 3 ½ mile river and had a wonderful time teasing trout and landlocked salmon to their dry flies. We all gathered at the Y-Pool gravel bar and set-up for a mid-day cookout provided by Indian Hill Trading Post and told morning tales of fish that were caught and the big ones that got away . After a grand day on the water the vets dined at the Rod & Reel Café.
Day two was reserved for anther day of fly fishing the Kennebec River. Fishing was good on both days and everyone caught fish using dries flies.
The last evening our American Legion always puts on a wonderful cookout for everyone at Moosetracts Cottages. A slide show of the wonderful photos taken by our official trip photographer, Bob Hamer was a big hit.
The morning of July 21st the vets were treated to home made breakfast goodies baked by Penny Legere and Susan Hamer.
We always look forward to the Annual Healing Waters Outing. The vets are always amazed and so appreciative of the generosity of the Greenville people. Everyone has such a wonderful time.
We want to thank each and every business and individual involved in this and every outing for the last twelve years. They have all been a huge success. Please go to our “Photos” page and see all those happy, smiling faces.
